MAKING THE DECISION
The Awakened Leader Study Program spans six months and consists of six modules. You will work with one module a month. You will receive a brief phone call from your faculty person after the first two weeks of working with the first module. The purpose of this phone call is to answer any questions you may have about how the module is structured. At the end of every month you will speak by phone or Skype with your assigned faculty member. A phone call with your faculty person takes place each time you have completed one module, totaling six phone calls. Your faculty member will send you an email that explains the focus of each phone call. During the six months, you may address questions or share your application of the material of the modules in leadership or group experiences with your faculty member using email. Periodic teleconferences will be announced throughout the six months that address specific leadership topics.
The six-month program allows time to work with the material and integrate its teachings. You can expect to spend approximately six hours per week in the six-month program. For the purpose of receiving support and clarification of the material, you will be required to send designated worksheet assignments to your faculty member. The faculty member will respond to your homework either by phone (or Skype) or by email. Topics of your completed worksheets may be the focus of the once a month phone calls with your faculty member.
During the six-month program, you will be required to attend a three-day leadership training held at the Institute for the Advancement of Service in Alexandria, VA. The focus of this training is to apply the material in the Study Program to actual leadership-group scenarios. These trainings are held periodically and can be attended by students at any point in their study program. The dates and cost of these trainings will be announced well in advance.
Before registering, ask yourself if now is the time for you to devote yourself to the course. You are asked to complete the study steps of each module on schedule. As mentioned, you will send certain worksheets you have completed to your faculty member for review. The program cannot be extended past the original six-month time period.
Because the material in The Awakened Leader Study Program builds on that of the Born to Serve Study Program, we request that you not enroll if you have not fulfilled all of the program requirements of the Born to Serve program. Acceptance into The Awakened Leader course will be at the recommendation of your Born to Serve faculty member and the website program director.
APPLICATION, REGISTRATION, AND PHONE CALLS
Step One: Exploratory Interview
Near the completion of your work with the Born to Serve Study Program, you and your faculty member will explore your interest in and readiness to enroll in The Awakened Leader Study Program. If you wish to consider enrolling in The Awakened Leader Study Program, you will have an interview with Susan Trout, Program Director, who will ask you about the general focus of your past and present leadership work and about what has drawn you to continue your studies of The Soul and Service Trilogy at this time. She will also explore with you your readiness to enroll in the program with you. Carefully review this course description of the program on the website prior to your interview.
Step Two: Registration and Enrollment Orientation
Once you are registered in The Awakened Leader Study Program, you will have a phone call discussion with Susan Trout and your assigned faculty member. The purpose of this phone call is to clarify your goals for the program and to answer any questions regarding the program’s requirements and structure. Your website faculty member will support your six-month work with The Awakened Leader program. If possible, scan The Awakened Leader book prior to the phone call to gain an overview of its contents, knowing you will be returning to it to do deeper work. Please be sure to order a copy of The Awakened Leader book if you do not already have one.
You will be able to download The Awakened Leader Study Program once you have registered online and your starting date has been decided.
